Market: Over 1.5 goals
Odds: 4/11 @
Two sides who find themselves battling it out at opposite ends of the Super League standings, Nantong Zhiyun will welcome Dalian Pro to the Rugao Olympic Sports Center on Wednesday lunchtime.
Starting with the hosts, suffering last-gasp heartbreak away at Tianjin Jinmen over the weekend as they eventually had to settle for a 1-1 draw, Nantong Zhiyun are still seeking some much-needed Super League stability. While Gabri’s men might have only made their top-flight return this season, the Blues hold just a one-point buffer from slipping into the drop zone. However, opening July with an action-packed 2-2 stalemate at home against Meizhou Hakka, the Rugao-based outfit have recorded just a pair of wins from any of their last 13 straight domestic appearances across all competitions a run that stems all the way back to April 26th. With it looking like their stellar 3-0 romp against Heilongjiang Ice City last month was just a minor blip, Nantong have also shown some extended struggles on home soil. Including a 2-1 loss at the hands of Zhejiang Professional, it should be noted that Gabri’s side have mustered just a single win in front of their own supporters in their last six attempts.
As for the visitors, while Dalian Pro might have also collected their own 1-1 draw away at Shanghai Port last weekend, the Blue Hawks still sit rock-bottom of the Super League standings and tipped as a leading relegation contender in 2023. Now having to settle for a single point in each of their last four top-flight appearances, Xie Hui’s men have claimed just a single Super League victory since opening up the new campaign. However, despite being tipped as an underdog contender in midweek, the former Nantong Zhiyun boss will be desperate to get one over on his former employers. It should be noted, when the Blue Hawks welcomed Wednesday’s hosts to the Dalian Barracuda Bay Football Stadium back in April 15th they did pick up an eye-catching 2-1 win their only Super League victory of the season. Two sides who find themselves at the heart of a looming relegation scrap, neutrals could be treated to an enjoyable affair here.
